Swamp Romp & Pack Campout, May 14

posted Apr 19, 2011 6:32 AM by Eric Fosler-Lussier   [ updated Apr 19, 2011 6:34 AM ]

Swamp Romp (May 14, 7:30/9-11 am, Fancyburg Park):

Our pack will be participating in the Upper Arlington Swamp Romp, which is a service project to clean the streams of Upper Arlington.  Cub scouts and siblings have a great time going through the streams and picking up litter.  The day kicks off with an optional pancake breakfast at 7:30 am.  At 9, we head out to our assignment to clean one of the streams; we finish up by 11 bringing back the litter that we've picked up.

If someone has a pickup truck that they can bring along, that helps with transporting litter back to the base.  Latex gloves and trash bags will be provided, but you might want to bring other (leather) gloves as well.  Dress for getting wet.

We need to know how many people are going to tell the district by April 29th.  Either sign up at the pack meeting, or email Eric (cubmaster #-at-# pack96ua.org) to let us know how many are coming.

Pack Campout (leave Sat May 14, noon, from Greensview; return from Camp Falling Rock around noon Sunday):

After Swamp Romping, we will be heading out to Camp Falling Rock (to be confirmed), which is one of the Council's scout camps, where we will camp out overnight.  Cost is $10 per family (cash or preferrably check payable to Pack 96), payable at the April Pack meeting or to Steve Rogers by April 29th.  The pack will provide Saturday dinner, dessert, and Sunday breakfast; plan to eat lunch Saturday before you come (or bring it in the car).

Likely activities include hiking, fishing, and games; we will also have a special pack meeting by the campfire.

Each family should plan to bring their own tent and sleeping gear (as well as clothes, etc).  Please note that this is a family campout: each scout should be accompanied by at least one parent; siblings are very welcome to come along.  Every person attending will need to have a valid medical form on file with Diane Kahle.

Bike Rodeo April 19/20/21

posted Apr 19, 2011 6:30 AM by Eric Fosler-Lussier   [ updated Apr 19, 2011 6:31 AM ]

We will be having our third annual bike rodeo Tuesday, April 19th, at 7pm in the Greensview Playground.  Scouts should bring their bike and a bike helmet -- no riding without a helmet!  Siblings are also welcome to participate.  We will have stations for bike decorations, maintenance, safety, and the ever-popular obstacle course!

in case of rain on the 19th, the den leaders will contact families by phone (as well as a general pack email) around 6pm; we will move the meeting to the 20th.  If it rains again on the 20th we will follow the same procedure and move the meeting to the 21st.

Blue and Gold Banquet, Feb 13

posted Jan 29, 2011 5:03 PM by Eric Fosler-Lussier

The Blue and Gold Banquet will be held February 13 at the Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Rd., Upper Arlington, from 5-7pm.  This year's theme is "Our Scouting Family"  -- we're  asking scouts to put together a mini-poster showing their family members who have been involved in scouting for display at the Banquet.

This is our big celebration of scouting, and we'll have awards from the popcorn sale and pinewood derby, as well as some rank advancements to hand out.

Dinner will be potluck: the pack will provide the main course, drinks, and cake.  Families are asked to bring a side dish to share.

See you there!
